Using Visual Effects to Simulate the Destruction of the Mythical Tower of Babel
Abstract
The Tower of Babel, a biblical narrative, has been a muse for various artistic interpretations. Historical depictions have showcased a diverse range of styles and creative expressions. Surprisingly, there has yet to be a cinematic representation that integrates the most renowned historical paintings.
An exploration of multiple visual effects techniques including destruction aims to deliver a compelling visual experience with Pieter Bruegel's painting from 1563 titled The Tower of Babel.
Inspiration
In the realm of Tarot Cards, each of the 78 cards narrates a distinct story. Inspired by these captivating cards, numerous artworks were created. Among them, the 16th Major Arcana: The Tower embodies themes of chaos, awakening, and abrupt transformations.
According to extensive research on The Tower, numerous interpretations have been proposed to elucidate the symbolism depicted on the card. One notable depiction suggests a correlation with the biblical narrative of the Tower of Babel.

The notion of divine punishment through lightning strikes is a prevalent belief in The Tower Card and various mythical narratives. Therefore, the portrayal of the Tower of Babel's destruction incorporated the symbolism of a lightning strike, providing a plausible interpretation within creative representation.
